Corporate social responsibility is high on our agenda at Controlled Demolition. Environmental protection is regarded as an integral part of our operation and it is considered by every member of staff. We carefully manage all our activities to reduce any potential environmental impacts to a practical minimum. We strive to maximise the recycling potential on all project sites and aim to recycle in excess of 95% of demolition arisings.
Environmentally responsibility is an important issue in the modern construction industry. As demolition involves the removal of items from a site, the tracking, recycling, and auditing of material is critical when being environmentally conscious and reducing the impact to the environment. Thru our internal programs, we carefully consider the materials to be removed and focus on maximizing the recycling and reuse of materials. Controlled Demolition is committed to providing a sustainable service and we demonstrate this through the following: • Building a genuine culture of caring throughout the company and beyond. • Having a positive social and economic impact at a local level. • Putting health and safety of workers & clients first. • Constantly seeking to improve the environmental impact of our work.
Controlled Demolition was committed to being “green” long before it became fashionable or, in some cases, required. We have worked on a number of (LEED) projects. Based on our extensive experience, we can quickly prepare and completely implement a demolition recycling participation plan. On one recent project, we recycled over 22,000,000 pounds of metal and concrete comprising over 77% of the total waste stream generated by the demolition of a large office/warehouse. In addition to garnering favourable publicity for the owner, we enabled him to claim the maximum credit available for demolition under LEED (2 points for recycling 75% or more) and obtain favourable government treatment.
